SMART (Science & Math Application in Real-world Technologies) Girls will engage girls in emerging technologies and careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). STEM topics are integrated throughout the week to build confidence and skills for participants. This year’s residential camp will provide workshops hosted by Penn College faculty like Computer Technology (Gaming, Simulation, Web Design, and Multimedia), Materials Processing and Advanced Manufacturing, Construction and Design Technologies, among others. Step Into The Real World will bring professionals to meet the girls and take the girls to real-world locations to see real-world technology.
Learn more about this prestigious summer opportunity for current sophomores and juniors. It is recommended that MBIT students apply for Week 4 that occurs at Pennsylvania College of Technology as opposed to Lycoming College. The reason being is because Pennsylvania College of Technology have many post-secondary programs related to the programs offered at MBIT as well as articulation agreements. Accepted PFEW students that successfully complete the program have an opportunity to receive scholarship money at either Lycoming College or Pennsylvania College of Technology.

I was informed of a great resource recently put out by FairTest.org. According to the site’s description, The National Center for Fair & Open Testing (FairTest) works to end the misuses and flaws of standardized testing and to ensure that evaluation of students, teachers and schools is fair, open, valid and educationally beneficial. One of the resources available is a list of SAT/ACT Optional 4-Year Colleges. This list includes many schools all over the country.
