  • This program in the visual arts prepares serious art students to visually communicate ideas and information to inform, entertain or persuade business and consumer audiences by using graphics and illustrations for print or digital media. Using a project-based approach, students gain experience simulating real-world projects that support an understanding of the broad range of careers in visual design.

    Animation is taught using Adobe Character Animator, Animate, and After Effects to learn the basics of digital animation. Students learn rotoscoping, tweening, basic motion capturing, and adding audio and special effects to videos. Digital Imaging & Digital Photography is taught using the latest state-of-the-art versions of Adobe Creative Suite software.  MBIT art students are well-prepared for college and careers in the visual arts. Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign are all used in assignments emphasizing the use of the computer to draw and design. It is essential for today’s commercial artist to be able to create and manipulate digital images to industry standards. Students learn Advertising Design elements & principles of visual design and composition that are incorporated in any piece of commercial or fine art. Students take their ideas from quick sketches to a finished pre-press level making packages, direct mail, brochures, publications (both print and eBooks), posters & flyers, print ads and more. Typography, the study of the history and anatomy of the written word in communication is taught so students learn different type styles and font families; projects will include logo design, sign making, type spacing. Students learn Drawing & Illustration by working in a variety of media including pencils, inks, markers, watercolors and acrylics. Students will practice different techniques in both black and white and color. Units of study include technical drawing, human anatomy, portraiture, cartooning, and observational and editorial illustrations.
