This program is designed to comply with the rules, regulations and state-mandated curriculum of the Pennsylvania State Board of Cosmetology. Instruction is provided in a variety of beauty treatments, including the care and beautification of the hair, skin, and nails. Included in this curriculum is: training in shampooing, hair styling including wigs/extensions, haircutting, hair coloring and hair lightening, chemical texturizing (perms and relaxers), facials, manicures and pedicures, nail technology, bacteriology, chemistry, electricity, anatomy and physiology, hygiene, sanitation, salon management, and communication skills. Students completing all the requirements, including the 1,250 hours of instruction, are eligible to receive selected PA State Board of Cosmetology Licenses upon successful examination. Upon issuance of a professional license by the PA State Board of Cosmetology, students are qualified for employment in a full-service salon or advanced licensing and teaching. Other options include collegiate study in business or marketing, providing employment opportunities as manufacturers’ representative/trainers and/or small business owner.
