    EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

    Instructor: Tina Haney

    CIP Code: 19.0708

  • This program prepares students for careers in education. Students observe and interact in a variety of early childhood settings, including community child care centers, the Bucks County Intermediate Unit and early intervention programs, as well as Li’l Bucks Partners in Learning, our on-site child care center. Students assist in the operation of Li’l Bucks Partners in Learning, which is licensed as a Pennsylvania-approved child care center and a Keystone STAR 4  center. Through Li’l Bucks Partners in Learning, students are exposed to a diverse population of young learners. Students age 16 or older are involved in understanding child development, supervising play, learning skills in behavior management, maintaining a safe and healthy environment, developing an understanding of policies and procedures regarding child care services, and developing lesson plans, observation skills, and other professional skills. The program is aligned to the Child Development Associate (CDA) requirements as well as Pennsylvania’s Program of Studies for Child Care. Students have opportunities to make community connections that can lead to participation in TEACH and Rising Stars, an internship-type program that provides college scholarships for those interested in pursuing education in early childhood.  A degree in Early Childhood leads to careers in teaching children PreK-4th grade or directing/owning a child care center.  This program provides an excellent foundation of technical knowledge for college and/or direct employment.
