Human Services Career Pathway

    Instructor: Lise Rich

    CIP Code: 19.0708

  • This program prepares students for a variety of careers working with children, and provides both theory and practical experiences. Students assist in the operation of a laboratory childcare center at Middle Bucks Institute of Technology, Li’l Bucks Partners in Learning, which is licensed as a Pennsylvania-approved child care center and a Keystone Star 3 center. Students age 16 or older are involved in supervising play, learning skills in behavior management, maintaining a safe and healthy environment, developing an understanding of policies and procedures regarding child care services, and developing lesson plans, observation skills, and professional skills. The program is aligned to the Child Development Associate (CDA) requirements as well as Pennsylvania’s Program of Studies for Child Care. In the third year of the program, students complete clinical experiences working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, school-aged children, or special needs children. This program provides an excellent foundation of technical knowledge for college and/or direct employment.
