The Medical & Health Professions program is designed to prepare students for careers in the medical and allied health fields. Students will be exposed to various healthcare professions and settings, which will allow them to make a more informed decision about their future education and career. The core curriculum includes: introduction to healthcare, professionalism, infection control, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, communication, personal and environmental safety, emergency and disaster preparedness, ethical and legal responsibilities, nutrition, human growth and development. Additional instruction in clinical skills includes: moving, lifting, and positioning of patients, vital signs, standard precautions, and patient care. Students are provided with both clinical and shadowing experiences in area hospitals, including Abington/Jefferson Hospital, and long-term care facilities, including Neshaminy Manor. Leadership skills and opportunities are encouraged through active involvement in Future Health Professionals (HOSA), our state and nationally recognized student organization. This program provides an excellent foundation of technical knowledge for college and/or direct employment.
