    Dear Student and Parent/Guardian:
    Welcome to Middle Bucks Institute of Technology (MBIT), where student success is our priority. You have made an excellent decision in selecting and developing a career pathway in our Culinary Arts and Sciences Program. We are here to assist you in achieving your goals by providing a supportive environment for high-quality education.
    For safety/sanitation purposes and to retain our American Culinary Certification students are not permitted to wear jewelry of any kind including earrings, gauges, facial piercings, wristbands etc. Nail polish is not permitted while working in the Culinary Arts and Sciences Program. The approved chef hat must be worn in the proper fashion. Hair must be restrained; not hanging in one’s face or over eyes and may not touch the collar. Beards of any kind or excessively long sideburns are not permitted unless covered by a beard guard. Unnatural hair colors (blue, purple, orange, green, etc.) are not permitted.
    Smart phones are only permitted in the classroom or lab areas with teacher permission.
    No student will participate in any hands-on work unless they are in full, clean uniform. Orders must be submitted by the deadline date posted on the order form to have delivery in time for the school year. Items to be purchased are listed below. This is the minimal number of items you will need.
    1. White or Black chef hat (2)
    2. Pair of black and white checked pants (1) – order 1 size larger to fit over clothes
    3. White plastic button chef jackets – name embroidered (1) (first & last)
    4. White cloth button jacket - name embroidered (1) (first & last)
    5. White kitchen aprons (3)
    6. Pair of comfortable black dress shoes (1) *no open toe or high heels
    7. Pair of black leather work shoes (1) * must have black leather work shoes to enter the kitchen
    8. One instant-read digital or bimetallic stem pocket thermometer
    9. The Culinary Professional Study Guide – new students only (paid via the PowerSchool Information Registration System)
    10. Student Activity Fee for all students paid via the PowerSchool Information Registration System
    11. All Level 200 Students (2nd year students) are required to participate in SERVSAFE Certification $38.00 Exam Fee /5-year Certification paid via the PowerSchool Information Registration System
    Uniform Information:
    For all student uniform orders please go to the link provided and choose level 100 (new students), level 200 (returning students if uniforms are needed), and level 300 for the third-year students.     All uniform transactions are to go through Schools.newchef.com. Please do not send uniform information or payments to Middle Bucks Institute of Technology. All jackets, hats and aprons must include the student’s full name (FIRST NAME/LAST NAME no nicknames) embroidered in ½ inch black letters over the front pocket. It is strongly recommended that the student’s name be clearly marked in permanent ink on the inside of every piece of clothing. Lockers will be provided; however, MBIT will not be responsible for lost or stolen articles of clothing or personal items.
    All 3rd year seniors will be required to purchase the new Chef’s Coat and Baggy Chef’s Pants. These items are located at the same website link: Please refer to: Schools.newchef.com

    NOTE: all chef coats are required to have Full Name monogrammed. Please order these items by the end of July to ensure delivery prior to the start of school.
