    2024-2025 School Year

    Dear Student and Parent(s)/Guardian(s):

    Welcome to Middle Bucks Institute of Technology (MBIT), where student success is our goal. You have made an excellent decision in selecting a career pathway in our Welding Education & Technology Program. We are here to assist you in achieving your goals by providing a supportive & understanding environment, with high quality education.

    We operate a safe working environment at MBIT. Therefore, you must have the proper work clothes and equipment to stay safe in the day-to-day operations of the welding program. Below is a list of items that you will need as a student in the classroom & shop every day.

    1. Blue or Black pens and pencils.

    2. One yellow highlighter.

    3. One 3” 3-ring binder, for all three years at MBIT, with one package of 8-Tab binder dividers.

    4. Welding helmet (automatic preferred), but we supply beginner helmets as needed.

    5. MBIT Welding collar shirt and sweatshirt, purchased in our school store.

    6. Pair of work pants or jeans with no holes, frays, or cuffs.

    7. Work boots that are steel-toed or composite toed, above the ankle, and made of leather.

    8. Student Activity Fee and the fees associated with each student level. (paid in the PowerSchool Information Registration System)

    9. Safety glasses and welding gloves will be provided to you by the school, but if ruined within the first year, the second pair will need to be purchased. Leather welding jackets are also provided.

    The work pants purchased need to be the correct size for the student. The styles of oversized or baggy pants are not permitted in the welding shop. This style is unsafe and can cause injury. The pants must be a durable fabric, 100% cotton or wool preferred (some fabric blends melt or burn easily while welding, cutting, or grinding) and have no holes, frayed edges, or cuffs (these catch fire easily) and must cover your work boots.

    All MBIT students are required to wear a uniform daily. If students do not have the required apparel, they will NOT be permitted to participate in the shop activities and that will result in a zero on their daily skills grade. Uniforms for the program can be purchased at www.mbitschoolstore.com beginning on August 1st. Uniforms should be ordered no later than August 15th so students will have them for their first week of school. Students will receive their uniform orders in the welding classroom.

    I hope that you will have an enjoyable learning experience at MBIT and the Welding Education & Technology Program. I look forward to working with you in preparing for our goals and your future.  Should you have any questions, concerns, or comments please email JHAIMOVITZ@MBIT.ORG, or call 215-343-2480 ext. 257.  I will be more than happy to answer any questions, concerns, or comments.
