2022-2023 School Year
Dear Student and Parent/Guardian:
Welcome to Middle Bucks Institute of Technology (MBIT), where student success is our first priority. You have made an excellent decision in selecting and developing a career pathway in our Welding Technology Program. We are here to assist you in achieving your goals by providing a supportive environment for high-quality education.
We operate a safe working environment at MBIT. Therefore, you must have the proper work clothes and equipment to stay safe in the day-to-day operations of the Welding Technology Program. Below is a list of items that you will need as a student in the Welding Technology Program for class everyday:
Assorted Blue or Black pens and pencils.
One (1) Highlighter (any assorted color).
One (1) Package of 8-Tab binder dividers.
Welding helmet (automatic preferred), but we supply beginner helmets as needed.
Pair of work pants or jeans (blue).
Safety glasses and welding gloves will be provided to you by the school, but if ruined within the first year, the second pair will need to be purchased.
Work boots that are steel-toed or composite safety toed, above the ankle, and leather.
Student Activity Fee (to be paid via PowerSchool Parent Portal)
The work pants purchased need to be the correct size for the student. The styles of large, oversize, baggy pants are not permitted in the lab for working. This style is not safe for the type of work you will do at MBIT. The pants must be of a durable fabric, 100% cotton or wool preferred (some fabric blends may not be suitable for welding) and have no holes, frayed edges or cuffs and must cover your work boot.
All MBIT students are required to wear a uniform daily. If students do not have the required apparel, they will NOT be permitted to participate in the classroom activities which will result in a zero on their daily assessment. Uniforms for the program can be purchased at www.mbitschoolstore.com. The website will specify what is required and recommended for purchase. Uniforms should be ordered no later than August 14th so students will have them for the first week of school. Students will receive their uniform orders in their designated classroom.
I hope that you will have an enjoyable learning experience at MBIT. I look forward to working with you in preparing for our goals and your future. Should you have any questions or concerns, please call 215-343-2480 ext. 257. I would be more than happy to answer your questions or discuss your individual concerns.
Once you receive notification, please complete the necessary student information, emergency contact information and invoice payment via PowerSchool Parent Portal by August 28, 2022. Students will not be permitted to participate in their labs until all forms are completed. Thank you for your assistance and cooperation.
Please contact MBIT if there are any questions, or if you have difficulty purchasing the required materials and supplies. Your success at MBIT is our success.
See you on August 29, 2022.
