This national recognized Residential Construction Academy (RCA) accredited instructional program, in conjunction with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the Home Builders Institute (HBI), prepares students for career paths and employment opportunities in the construction industry through technical knowledge and skills in the building, repair, and general maintenance of residential building and other structures. The program provides instruction in many of the construction trades including: structural carpentry, finish carpentry, millwork, plumbing, electricity, masonry, concrete, tile setting, installing hardware, heating, ventilation, waterproofing, roofing, siding, drywall, painting, regular tool and machine maintenance, environmental control systems, and record keeping. Students learn to use hand and power tools, construction materials, estimating, blueprint reading, and construction safety. Graduates of this program are prepared for employment in construction fields or may pursue specialized training through an apprenticeship and/or postsecondary education.
